📌 What is the System and What is It Used For?

Essilor Kappa™ is an industry-standard digital lens processing system developed for optical stores and edging workshops to cut, groove, and prepare raw spectacle lenses for assembly according to frame geometry with millimeter precision.

Renowned in the optical industry for its high durability and precision, this system consists of two main units:

• Tracer & Centering/Blocking Unit (Right – Kappa Tracer/Blocker): Scans the frame geometry in 3D, determines the optical centers on the lens, and performs the blocking (suction) process before edging.
• Digital Lens Edger Unit (Left – Kappa Edger): Shapes the lens according to the scanned form and entered diopter parameters, applies beveling at the correct angle, and performs grooving for rimless/semi-rimless frames.

• Optical Camera Centering Display: Enables zero-error adjustment of optical centers, pupillary distance (PD), and fitting height parameters visually via the screen.

2. Versatile Lens Processing Functions

• Auto-Beveling: Creates the optimal bevel angle based on lens thickness and curvature for full-rim frames.
• Precision Grooving: Cuts flawless grooves of desired depth and width along the lens edge for semi-rimless (nylon) frames.
• Safety Beveling (Deburring): Smooths out sharp edges that may form post-edging, preventing chipping or breakage during assembly.

3. Full Compatibility with Various Lens Materials

• Features dedicated edging modes for all lens types, including Organic (CR39), Polycarbonate, Glass (Mineral), Trivex, and High-Index lenses.
• Flexible motor architecture minimizes the risk of cracking or coating peeling on fragile or delicately coated lenses.
